- Yeah, leave it up to Escom, they would rather send the bloody computers
- to MARS then send them to North America! :)

- Now this is one thing I wanted to hear.. this is keeping with true Amiga
- philosophy and Amiga Technology.. this looks really good for the future
- of the Amiga "Walker" anyways but uncertain still for the Power Amiga as
- if the Amiga chipset is to be improved, I would assume it would be put on
- the Power Amiga motherboard relegating the "standard chips" to the slots
- which I think should be the way it should go anyways. Have the OS
- directly linked to the chips like it already is but if there are PCI
- cards in the slots and the user wants to use them instead, there should
- be the ability for the OS to redirect all calls to those chips and then
- use APIs etc. The broadscast video, set-top box market etc. needs
- slightly different characteristics then even the top of the notch
- "standard chips" can provide. Do actually think standard (even souped
- up) SVGA chips will be able to give you BROADCAST quality (through a TV)
- video? They might be able to give you a Hz rate through a hack but do you
- think the quality would be any good? Where are the filters etc coming
- from - definately not an OS call.
-
- Right now, in my opinion the chipset VISCorp will get is overblown for a
- set-top box in some areas (and needs improving in others) - as long as
- they do not trash the parts needed to make a successful computer chipset
- (to get a cheaper price) and expand on them.. then it will be great.
- This is sort of like 1985 all over again.. instead of originally wanting
- a games machine, they now want a set-top box and in both regards
- (hopefully anyways) the result is a kick-ass, full blown computer!
-
- Imagine the Amiga having voice (recognition), internet and online service
- capabilities, faxing, home shopping, home banking, pay per view/tv control
- etc. all built into its OS along with the games aspect and productivity apps
- that go with it via the hardware and the software also like are already
- there?
